Two people. One chance meeting. Seven days to Christmas.

Isobel Bennett is waiting for the number 11 bus when a man quite literally falls into her lap. Snow is falling, Christmas lights are twinkling, and a gorgeous man with dark brown hair has just slipped on ice and is now pressed against Isobel.

Isobel knows she’s not imagining the chemistry between them. But then his ride arrives and, embarrassed, he beats a hasty retreat, murmuring apologies – and Isobel realises only too late that she didn’t manage to catch his name…

When she runs into him again the next morning, she decides it’s fate.

It’s a second chance for Isobel and Tom – but there’s only one week until she’s leaving London for good. Seven days of enjoying all the festive delights the city has to offer: ice-skating at Somerset House, mulled wine on the Southbank, Christmas shopping at Liberty.

There’s magic in the air and mistletoe in the trees – but what will happen when the week is over?

This is one Christmas romance you don’t want to miss!

I Will Follow Him

A bachelor party on a cruise ship. What could go wrong?

When private detective Francie is hired to spy on a groom-to-be as he and his bachelor party set sail for the Caribbean, she thinks she’s landed herself a week of paid vacation. Between lounging in the sun and sipping margaritas, she just needs to–best case scenario–report back that he’s on the up and up, or–the unfortunate, more likely scenario–snap a few photos of her target in compromising positions, buy a box of sympathy chocolates for her client, and then collect her pay along with a nice golden suntan.

Blame it on the island breezes or the alcohol, but within hours of setting sail, Francie’s leisurely vacation gets complicated when she starts making careless mistakes. Like accidentally becoming friends with the groom and falling for his best man.

Can she get herself and her mission back on track, or has she blown her cover and possibly even her career?

My review

This is a lovely,  lively, summery read. Actually, you could read it anytime but summer is when we think travelling in general, and more exciting things like cruises in particular.

This novella is part of a series but you don’t need to have read the other books to enjoy this one.

The characters are all great – and we get the full range from awful to awesome. They’re all believable, intriguing people and it’s great fun to get to know them all a bit better. Our heroine Francie is perfect. She’s motivated, well-intentioned, loyal and caring, but has her flaws and they only serve to make her even more likeable.

The plot is fresh and entertaining, and definitely clever. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable story. It has a super, eye-catching cover and is very well presented.

Their stories intertwine and they discover together that treasure isn’t always what it seems.

Get ready for the wonderful cover for ‘Paddy and Pedro’, my first children’s book for quite a while, that I’ll be publishing on 17 March.

The blurb

Not many people have a penpal who’s a llama, but Paddy does. And not many people’s penpals actually come to visit them, but Paddy’s does.

Kind-hearted, geeky, chess-mad Paddy is thrilled to bits to find Pedro the llama on his doorstep in his tiny Irish village one morning, and his Great Aunt Maureen Mary Margaret (Gammy for short) who is minding him, is delighted to find Paddy’s handsome owner, Carlos, there too.

Pedro is a big hit in Paddy’s village and sees off the bunch of bullies who are pestering Paddy. Llama spit is truly awful stuff.  Paddy now has massive street cred.

Then Paddy and Gammy are urgently summoned by Gran to help out in a dreadful emergency. Gran lives in Windswept Cottage, possibly the windiest spot in Ireland. Carlos and Pedro, and not forgetting Seamus the guinea-pig, come along for the ride too. But they soon wish they hadn’t because suddenly everything’s either up in the air or going downhill rapidly. Add in a lottery win, an evil twin and over-enthusiastic police officers, and things get very exciting!

The book is fun, lively and action-packed, and perfect for young, confident readers.

And now the cover…

The artwork is by Kim Hazel Shaw, who illustrated all my children’s books published by Mentor. It’s lovely to be working with her again.

So, remember the date and be on the look-out for ‘Paddy and Pedro’ in all Amazon stores.

An exciting cover reveal today here at Books Are Cool.

It’s only the second day of autumn (and co-incidentally, the second day in the year 227 of the French Republican Calendar – something that I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about!), but it’s time to start thinking about Christmas. Well, Christmassy books at least. They’ll be hitting the shelves soon so we all need to plan which ones we can fit into our pre-Christmas reading schedule. Everyone has to read at least a few Christmassy books every year, right?

And so I’m delighted to be joining in the cover reveal of a festive romcom, which is definitely one to consider putting on your tbr list:

The biggest snowfall in years has blanketed Sunnybrook, cutting the village off from the outside world. For Fen, who finds herself snowed in at The Little Duck Pond Cafe, it’s little more than a minor inconvenience. Her love life is finally running smoothly; it looks as if she’s found the perfect man for her.

But then a shocking secret threatens to destroy Fen’s new-found happiness.

Will being snowed in be the final straw? Or will Fen find a way through the snowdrifts to the perfect love?

And here’s the cover…

My thoughts

It’s a very eye-catching cover, and immediately gives off a chick lit vibe (or maybe in this case duckling vibe would be more appropriate) with the characteristic italic typeface so indelibly linked with this genre at present. The colours are friendly and inviting, the snowflakes and snowman atmospheric and the water fowl appealing. My only concern is for those poor little ducklings! I’m a bit of a crazy bird lady and on my very large smallholding I have a lot of poultry. Baby birds of any variety hatched in winter face an extremely tough time, which is why it’s rare occurrence naturally. So I shall take the view that these ducklings have an extremely cosy house somewhere in which they spend most of their day, and where they get a lot of the extra food they’ll need to keep warm and toasty, and I sincerely hope their mother won’t produce such a late brood again next year!

In summary, it’s a delightful cover.

About the author

Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.

?

?Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café. The first two stories in the series are: Spring at The Little Duck Pond Cafe and Summer at The Little Duck Pond Café.
